BJP councillor arrested for arson at Sandeepananada Giri’s ashram; total four arrests made so far

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: BJP councillor VG Girikumar has been arrested for the arson at Sandeepanandagiri’s ashram in Kundamankadavu. Girikumar was arrested by the Crime Branch for his involvement in the conspiracy. According to the police, Girikumar, who is PTP Nagar Ward Councillor and district leader of RSS and BJP, instigated the accused and helped them destroy the evidence.

Earlier, Karumamkulam native Sabari, an RSS worker, was arrested by the Crime Branch from his house last night. It was found that Sabari had visited the ashram on the day of the incident. The probe team got information about Sabari from those arrested earlier. Four people were already arrested in the case. The ashram and the vehicle parked nearby were set on fire in 2018.
