Advertisement of online games and gambling; central government urges states to take strict action

NEW DELHI: The central government has asked the states to impose restrictions on advertisements related to online games. The Union Ministry of Broadcasting has directed the states to take strict action on the issue. In addition to restricting media from airing advertisements promoting online games, placing such advertisements in public places should also be prohibited. The restriction also applies to betting and gambling advertisements.

Meanwhile, the central government renewed the license of the MediaOne channel following the Supreme Court verdict.
