TALIPARAMBA: CPM State Secretary MV Govindan filed a petition directly at the court against Swapna Suresh and Vijesh Pillai in allegedly defaming him. He filed a petition before Taliparamb First Class Magistrate Sajid Andathod Thachan on Tuesday at 2.40 pm requesting to take up a criminal defamation case.

In the petition filed by Advocate Nicholas Joseph, Govindan has requested that a case be filed against Swapna Suresh and Vijesh Pillai as the first and second accused under IPC 120B and IPC 500 sections. The complaint says that they tried to defame him, the Chief Minister and his family.

Swapna alleged that through Vijesh Pillai, MV Govindan said that he would pay Rs 30 crore if she retracted the allegations against the Chief Minister and his family, otherwise, she would be killed. Newspaper reports and digital evidence have been produced in the court. The list of three witnesses has been given and the court will decide whether to send a notice to the accused after examining the witnesses on May 20.

Earlier, High Court judge Bechu Kurian Thomas had stayed the further action in the FIR on the complaint filed by Taliparamb area secretary K Santhosh against Swapna and Vijesh Pillai.
