THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: 6.78 lakh people bought ration in the state when the ration shops reopened yesterday after a two-day hiatus. The office of the Minister of Food and Civil Supplies said that although some complaints were raised regarding malfunctions in the Electronic Point of Sale (e POS) system, there were no serious issues. It also stated that the Department of Civil Supplies has put a system in place to resolve any malfunctions immediately.
The ration shops were first opened on April 29 after being closed for three days to resolve the technical glitches in the e-POS system. While shops in Malappuram, Thrissur, Palakkad, Kollam, Alappuzha, Pathanamthitta and Wayanad districts were open from 8 am to 1 pm, shops in Kozhikode, Thiruvananthapuram, Kannur, Kottayam, Kasaragod and Idukki districts were open from 2 pm to 7 pm. The same arrangement will continue on Wednesday. Ration shops will be fully operational on Thursdays and Fridays.
