King Charles III's coronation underway; Biggest event in seven decades' time

LONDON: Coronation ceremony of Charles III started in Westminster Abbey. The ceremony is touted as the biggest event to happen in seven decades in the country since the crowning of Queen Elizabeth. Charles III will be crowned king today while his wife Camilla will be crowned separately in a similar but simpler ceremony.

The Archbishop of Canterbury will lead the coronation ceremony. The event will have less opulence than the 1953 grandiose but will feature an array of historical regalia from golden orbs and bejeweled swords to a scepter holding the world's largest colourless cut diamond.

Prince Harry and Andrew will attend the event but the friction remains intact between the two which has forced Harry to skip the public procession event. After returning to Buckingham Palace, the couple and other British royals will make a traditional appearance on the balcony, with a fly-past by military aircraft.
