Manipur conflict: Vineet Joshi to be appointed as the new Chief Secretary

IMPHAL: In the wake of the Manipur conflict, the current Chief Secretary has been replaced. It has been decided to replace Rajesh Kumar with Vineet Joshi in the riot situation. Vineet Joshi will also serve as the Chief Vigilance Commissioner in the current circumstances. He was on central deputation.

Meanwhile, official sources said that 54 people have been killed in communal riots in Manipur. Unofficial sources indicate that the numbers are higher than that. The bodies have been kept at Churachandpur District Hospital Mortuary, Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences in East Imphal district, and Regional Institute of Medical Sciences in Lamphelpat in West Imphal district. Meanwhile, life returned to normal in the Imphal Valley with shops opening and vehicles plying the roads. It is reported that Manipur is returning to peace under the strong security of more than 10,000 soldiers and arson, looting and violence have reduced.

Meanwhile, on Friday in Imphal, Manipur, Tax Assistant in the Income Tax Department, Sh. Letminthang Haokip was dragged out of his official residence and beaten to death by the mob. This was informed by the Indian Revenue Service Association. Strongly condemning the killing, the association said no ideology can justify the killing of an innocent government official in the line of duty.
