THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: APM Mohammed Hanish, the principal secretary of industries appointed for a departmental inquiry into the AI camera controversy, was transferred twice before submitting the inquiry report. Hanish, who was first appointed as the Principal Secretary of the Revenue Department, was removed from there within 24 hours and made the Principal Secretary of the Health Department.
Hanish, who was assigned to the Revenue Department on Sunday, was transferred to the Health Department in a revised order issued on Monday. Tinku Biswal, who was the principal secretary of the health department, has been transferred to the revenue, disaster management and housing departments. The transfer comes when Tinku Biswal's name was included as principal secretary of health, in the team that was supposed to travel to Cuba next month with the chief minister and the health minister. It is learned that the chief minister received a complaint against Tinku Biswal regarding the omission of government hospitals in the health department's scheme, which led to her transfer.
Hanish was tasked by the Industries Department to investigate the issues related to Keltron following the allegations of corruption raised by the opposition in the camera controversy. It is learned that Hanish, who completed the investigation, will be withdrawing from the charge after submitting the report within two days. The duties held by Hanish were given to another principal secretary of industries, Suman Billa.
Dr. A Jayathilak, who was the Additional Chief Secretary in the Revenue Department for more than three years, has been appointed as the Additional Chief Secretary of the Taxes and Excise Department. There are indications that department minister K Rajan had asked for Tinku Biswal to replace Jayathilak. However, it is learned that two orders had to be issued within 24 hours when the revenue minister met the chief minister and complained about the appointment of another officer as per the instructions of the chief secretary without consulting him.
