Fire at secretariat: DGP orders for Crime Branch probe

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The crime branch will investigate the fire that broke out in the North Sandwich Block of the secretariat this morning. DGP Anil Kant ordered the investigation to be handed over to the Crime Branch.

The fire broke out on the third floor of North Sandwich Block near Minister Rajeev's office in the secretariat. P Rajeev's additional private secretary Vinod's room was destroyed in the fire. Two units of the fire force reached the spot and extinguished the fire. The police informed that no files were burnt. It is not clear how the fire started. There was also a fire in the same block in 2020. That day, files and computers were destroyed.
