Doctor's death is very painful, comprehensive probe will be conducted; CM visits Vandana Das’ family

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said the death of Dr Vandana Das in Kottarakkara taluk hospital is shocking and extremely painful. She was attacked while she was on duty. Chief Minister visited the doctor's family at KIMS hospital in the capital city.

The chief minister said the assault on health workers while on duty is unacceptable and a comprehensive probe will be conducted. In a Facebook post, he said the government will take strong action against attacks on health workers. Apart from the chief minister, Governor Arif Muhammad Khan also reached the hospital.

His post said the death of the doctor while on duty is shocking and very painful. A person brought for treatment attacked the doctor. Police officers and others who tried to stop the attack were also stabbed.

Attacking health workers while on duty is unacceptable. A comprehensive probe will be conducted into the incident. The government will take strong action against attacks on doctors and health workers. The chief minister reached the hospital and consoled her family. Joining in their grief. Condolences.

The doctor was stabbed to death allegedly by a man brought there by police after being involved in a fight with his family members.

When the wound on the man's leg was being dressed by the doctor, he got provoked and attacked everyone standing there using a scissor and scalpel.
