UAE boat mishap: Seven-year-old Malayali boy undergoing treatment dies in hospital

SHARJAH: A seven-year-old Malayali boy, who was undergoing treatment after being injured in a boat accident, died. The deceased has been identified as Pranav (7), son of Prashanth and Manjusha, of Cheruthitta in Koorambala. The boat accident occurred on the last Eid day in Khor Fakkan in Sharjah. Following the accident, Pranav was undergoing treatment at a hospital in Abu Dhabi. He was a Class 2 student at a school in Abu Dhabi.

In the same boat accident, Abhilash Vazhavalapil (38), a resident of Kasaragod's Nileswaram, died on the day of the incident. He was trapped under the overturned boat thereby leading to his death. Three people, including a child, were under treatment in connection with accident. The boat started the pleasure trip at 3.40 pm on Eid day. A total of 18 people were in the boat at this time. The boat was one and a half kilometers away from the shore at the time of the accident. All those who fell into the sea were brought ashore with the help of rescue teams and the police.
