Four killed, seven injured in car-bus collision in Kanyakumari

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Four people were killed in an accident that happened on the Nagercoil-Tirunelveli national highway near Kanyakumari. Seven sustained serious injuries. The accident happened when the car carrying a dance team collided with the bus at 7 am Friday morning near Layam Junction near Vellamadam.

The four including the car driver died on the spot itself. The injured has been admitted at Asaripallam Medical College. The locals, fire force and the police conducted the rescue operations.

The team were returning after a dance programme at Tiruchendur at 5 am. There were 11 people in the car. It is reported that one among the dead is a Malayali. Initial reports said the driver dosing off may have led to the accident. The car has been damaged in the accident. None in the bus sustained any injuries.
