MUMBAI: CBI has filed a case against Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) officer Sameer Wankada, who arrested Shah Rukh Khan's son in a drug case. A corruption case has been registered against Sameer Wankhede, former head of NCB Mumbai zone.

Aryan Khan was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau in 2021 for being part of a drug party on a luxury ship and allegedly possessing drugs. Samir Wankhede was the head of the investigation team handling the said case, but due to lack of evidence, Aryan Khan was acquitted by the Supreme Court in the drug case. The Supreme Court order came after Aryan Khan spent four weeks in jail.

After the release of Aryan Khan, several allegations were leveled against the investigation team under Sameer Wankhede. Two top officers of the group were dismissed from service the previous day due to the lapses in the investigation. The NCB chief informed that the action was taken due to the discovery of serious irregularities in the investigation. CBI registered a case against Sameer Wankhede after this. Currently, CBI has inspected 29 places related to Wankhede.
