Vehicle robbery gang attacks SI inside police station; many other officers injured

PERUMBAVOOR: Four vehicle robbers attacked SI and other three police officers inside Kuruppampady police station. SI Rinson Thomas suffered ligament injuries and was admitted to Sanjo Hospital in the city. The four assailants were brought to the station for getting the fingerprint impression. They were arrested days back in a vehicle robbery case. Riyas, Thansil, Christopher, and Ajith were arrested for the crime. The incident happened yesterday evening at 4 pm. The four attacked the police officers denying fingerprint impression.

The gang stole a car from a workshop near Kuruppampady. They were on the journey to Banglore where the car was about to get scrapped and sold. However, the Banglore journey was cut short as the four were held in a vehicle search near Mangalore. Brought back to Perumbavoor, the police asked them to oblige to fingerprint impression. The resistance soon turned to physical might as the SI was punched in the face and then attacked by the four. The other police officers tried fighting back but got similar treatment from the assailants. It was after much drama that the four were overpowered. They will be presented to court today.
