Malayali close to winning global nursing award with prize money of Rs 2 cr

THODUPUZHA: Jincy Jerry hailing from Thodupuzha has made it to the ten-member shortlist to select the winner of this year's Aster Guardians Global Nursing Award. The prize money is around Rs 2 crore (£2,50,000). The award will be announced this morning on the occasion of World Nurses Day.

Ireland is looking for a job as Assistant Director of Nursing Infection Prevention Control (IPC) at the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital, Dublin. Robert, the software produced at IPC under the leadership of Jincy, received a lot of attention. This opened the door to the award list.

Ten people were selected from 52065 contestants from 202 countries. Shanti Teresa Lakra, a North Indian nurse from India is also on the list.

The winner will be determined by public voting. Voting started on April 10. The awards ceremony will be held at Queen Elizabeth Nagar in Westminster, London. She is the daughter of the late AT Jacob and Chinnamma Jacob. She is survived by husband Jerry Sebastian, an IT engineer, and children Chris, Darren and Daniel.
