Autorickshaw driver arrested with MDMA in T'puram

POTHENCODE: A man has been arrested for keeping MDMA for sale. The arrested has been identified as Naushad alias Mubarak (50), a native of Mudapuram. He was arrested during a vehicle inspection conducted in Murukumpuzha Kozhimada area under the leadership of Kazhakoottam Exercise Range Inspector S Sudheesh Krishna. 8.45 grams of synthetic lethal drug MDMA was seized from him. He is also an auto rickshaw driver who does scrap business during the day. Under the guise of scrap business, he was widely selling drugs to youths.

Investigation agencies, including the intelligence wing of Excise, had been monitoring his activities for a long time. He was caught by the Excise team when he came with drugs under the pretense of being an auto-rickshaw driver to sell among the youth in Kazhakoottam area. Rs 21,000 obtained by selling MDMA and an auto-rickshaw used to smuggle drugs were seized. He was produced the accused in the Attingal court and remanded.
