NEW DELHI: Wrestlers ready to intensify protest as Brij Bhushan's arrest in sexual harassment complaint is delayed. The players informed that the strike which has been going on for more than 20 days at Jantar Mantar will be extended to the global level. For this, the move is to seek the support of Olympic medalists and foreign players. The wrestlers have also informed that the pattern of the strike will change from May 21 if the arrest of Brij Bhushan is delayed further.
The Delhi Police's failure to arrest former Wrestling Federation President and BJP MP Brij Bhushan, despite filing a sexual complaint with a minor girl, prompted the wrestlers to change the way they protested. The sports stars had earlier complained that they did not get the support of the national women leaders for the strike that has been going on for weeks. It was decided to seek global attention on the issue since the strike was getting extended. Asian Games gold medalist Vinesh Phogat said that she will send a letter seeking support from foreign stars for this. Vinesh Phogat alleged that attempts are being made to sabotage the protest and non-protesters are being snuck into the protest site at night.
