NEW DELHI: The Congress is yet to decide who will become the Chief Minister of Karnataka. Consensus talks led by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi and AICC general secretary (Organisation) KC Venugopal are in progress. After the talks, Mallikarjun Kharge will hold separate discussions with Siddaramiah and DK Shivakumar. According to sources, the Congress leadership is trying to announce the Chief Minister within the next 24 hours.
DK Shivakumar has arrived in Delhi. Earlier, he had compared the Congress party to his mother, saying that a mother will give everything to her child. Additionally, he stated that he would not split the MLAs. The high command is assessing all these situations. Siddaramiah, who arrived in Delhi the other day, held discussions with various senior leaders. Meanwhile, it is hinted that both Shivakumar and Siddaramiah are not willing to give up the post of Chief Minister.
Given his positive reputation, the high command wants to appoint 75-year-old Siddaramaiah as CM for the first two and a half years. It worries that if DK Shivakumar is made the CM, the Centre will bring up the ED cases and corruption allegations against him once more.
