Man surrenders at police station after fatally stabbing woman inside lodge room

KANHANGAD: A man surrendered at the Hosdurg police station after stabbing a 34-year-old make-up artist to death in a lodge room. The deceased Devika, of Mukkunnoth in Uduma's Mangadu, was killed in room number 36 of Fort Vihar Lodge in Puthiyakota. Satheesh (36) of Adhoor's Bovikanam was arrested by the police.

After killing the woman by stabbing her in the neck, Satheesh locked the room from outside and reached the police station.

Satheesh, who has been staying at the lodge for two weeks, called Devika here yesterday morning. According to the police, Satheesh said that the two had been in love for nine years and that the reason for the murder was Devika's interference in his life. Both are married. Satheesh has a wife and a child. He was questioned in detail by Kanhangad DySP Balakrishnan Nair, CI KP Shine and SI KV Ganesh. The body was shifted to Pariyaram Kannur Govt Medical College for post mortem.

Devika is the daughter of KV Prema and late Balakrishnan. Husband: Rajesh (Cherupuzha). Children: Adiya and Alan.
