BENGALURU: A passenger from the Akasa Air flight was detained at Bengaluru Airport soon after landing for smoking mid-air while the flight was en route from Ahmedabad to Bengaluru on Tuesday. The arrested person has been identified as Rajasthan native Praveen Kumar. He was arrested on the complaint lodged by the duty manager at the airport.
“A passenger on Akasa Air flight QP1326, flying from Ahmedabad to Bengaluru, was found smoking beedi in the aircraft's lavatory. Our crew followed the required safety protocols and the passenger was handed over to the local police with the help of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), upon landing in Bengaluru. We are assisting authorities in investigating this matter,” said the spokesperson of Akasa Air.
Meanwhile, Praveen told the police that he was not aware of the rules on the plane as it was the first time he travelled on a flight.
The police said that it was a serious lapse on the part of the authorities that they did not find the beedi from Praveen during the security check.
