KANNUR: Left Front Convener E P Jayarajan came to the fore against Thalassery Archbishop Mar Joseph Pamplany's remark that political martyrs get involved in unnecessary fights and lose their lives. EP said that a bishop is one who holds a high post, so it is not possible to think that such a statement would come from someone like him.

‘Gandhi is a martyr. Did he die falling from a bridge? Our society respects martyrs. Why did the bishop speak like that? This statement was to help whom? What was his goal? The bishop's action is wrong. A bishop is one holding a high post, so it is not possible to think that such a statement would come from someone like him,’ blamed Jayarajan.

Archbishop Mar Joseph Pamplany’s controversial remarks were at the Youth Day celebrations organized by KCYM Thalassery Archdiocese at Cherupuzha in Kannur. The 12 disciples of Jesus were martyred for truth and justice. However, the political martyrs of the new age did not turn martyrs for justice. It happened when went to fight unnecessarily with people. The youths of the state are facing a big crisis. Bishop Pamplany said that the youths are leaving the state en masse due to the actions of those ruling Kerala.
