KOCHI: The attack of wild buffaloes has once again caused concern in the state. One member of the five-member team was injured in a wild animal attack in the Kothamangalam Pooyamkutty forest. Velappan (55) of the Uriyampatti tribal colony was injured in a wild buffalo attack in Manchapara. The other four people who were with him at the time of the incident were able to escape and a major accident was avoided.
Three people tragically lost their lives in wild buffalo attacks in Kollam and Kottayam last day. Two people died in Erumeli, Kottayam. Erumeli Purathel Chakochan (70) and Plavinakuzhiyil Thomas died tragically. Chakochan died on the spot. Thomas was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries and succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.
Meanwhile, Samuel Varghese (64) of Perungalloor, Ayoor, Kodinjal died in a wild buffalo attack in Kollam. Samuel returned home from Dubai last day. On the morning of the incident, Samuel was standing in a rubber plantation adjacent to his house when a wild buffalo attacked him from behind. He was seriously injured and rushed to a private hospital but his life could not be saved. The wild buffalo was later found dead.
