THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Even if the AI camera detects parents taking their children on two-wheelers, no fines will be likely charged. But the law does not allow it to be announced.
Officers can exclude this during inspection. The government is of the view that there is no need to punish children by imposing fines.
A letter has been sent to the Centre to grant the exemption. There is no possibility of getting permission as it is against the law. Other states also do not charge fines for children. A high-level meeting of the Motor Vehicle Department will be held on May 24 ahead of the imposition of traffic violations through AI cameras from June 5. An agreement with Keltron is yet to be signed based on the government order that approved the digital enforcement scheme. These matters will be discussed in the meeting.
