Rahul Gandhi gets death threat; case registered against UP native

rahul-

NEW DELHI: A case has been filed against a UP native who threatened to kill Rahul Gandhi over the phone. Lucknow Police registered a case against Manoj Rai, a native of Gorakhpur. On March 25, he contacted Congress party media convener Lallan Kumar and informed that he would kill Rahul Gandhi. The investigation into the death threat is in progress.

Apart from Rahul Gandhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had received death threats recently. An incident was reported before the Prime Minister's visit to Kerala as well. Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi made a statement regarding the inauguration of the new Parliament building scheduled for the 28th of this month. He informed that the new Parliament building should be inaugurated by the President and not by the Prime Minister. Opposition parties had come out with criticism amid reports that President Draupadi Murmu was not invited to the function.

The opposition accused the central government of insulting the office of the President. It is a violation of protocol and a move against democracy, they added.
