Migrant worker arrested for growing cannabis plants at home

ALAPPUZHA: A migrant worker has been arrested for growing cannabis plants at his home. The arrested person has been identified as West Bengal native Amit Roy. The Excise Department has seized 10 cannabis plants from the house near Kayamkulam railway station where Amit was living. He was arrested in an inspection conducted by the Excise Department after receiving a tip-off.

Another youth was arrested in a similar incident last week. Vellarada Pannimala native Praveen (30) was arrested for growing cannabis plants on a compound near his house. The Excise team had found cannabis plants measuring 50, 45, 32, 30 and 13 cm in height from the compound.
