He was brought to the jail in a stretcher. He did not drink even water for three days while in jail. The day before he died, he cried of chest pain but treatment was denied. He was taken to the hospital after his death, fellow inmate Sunil told a private channel. Jail chief Rishiraj Singh said that he doesn’t know what happened before he was brought to the jail and the police should investigate it.

The Nedukandam police took Rajkumar into custody on June 12. His arrest was registered after three days and on June 16 he was admitted to Nedukandam taluk hospital. He was in a very weak stage. The doctors revealed that he was not in a situation to be taken to the jail but the police paid no heed to it. He died on June 21 at the Peerumedu jail. Though it was suspected that he died of brutal torture, the intensity of the incident was revealed only after the post mortem report was publicised.
