Received more than one crore rupees as bribe; Palakkayam village assistant Suresh Kumar suspended

PALAKKAD: Palakkad Palakkayam village assistant Suresh Kumar, who was caught red-handed by the Vigilance while taking a bribe, has been suspended from service. More than one crore rupees cash and various rewards were seized from his house. Earlier, he was remanded by the Thrissur Vigilance Court for 14 days.

Suresh Kumar, who tried to take a bribe, was caught by the Vigilance yesterday during the Mannarkkad taluk-level adalat. Upon conducting an inspection, the Vigilance team found thirty-five lakh seven thousand rupees in the lodge room where he was living. The officials also seized records of fixed deposits of Rs.45 lakhs.
