Beware of dengue fever; warning for districts of Ernakulam and Thiruvananthapuram

dengue-

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister Veena George informed that due to the continuous rains in the state, caution should be taken against dengue fever. Everyone should take precautions to prevent dengue from spreading. It has also been suggested that preventive procedures should be strengthened in the districts including Ernakulam and Thiruvananthapuram.

A meeting was held earlier under the leadership of the Chief Minister to intensify pre-monsoon cleaning activities. Apart from this, the activities led by the LSG department and the activities of the health department as per the health alert calendar are going on. Priority should be given to mosquito control activities and source control activities. The Minister also instructed the Director of the Health Department to strengthen awareness activities.

Make sure that there is no standing water in small and large spaces outside, inside, or around the house or the terrace. Mosquitoes can breed in the water that accumulates on carelessly discarded plastic, coconut shells, etc. Indoor plant trays are seen as a source of mosquitoes. Therefore, the water in the trays of the pots and the fridge should be changed weekly.

Foreclosed homes, establishments, unused tires, blocked gutters, houseplants, water tanks, closets in hardware stores and foreclosed homes, and old vehicles should also be checked. Special care should be taken to see if there is breeding activity in areas where construction activities are taking place. Institutions, hospitals, and hostels should be cleaned properly. Accommodation facilities for migrant workers should also be taken care of. Do not self-medicate if you have a fever. Prolonged fever should be noted. Many people end up in the hospital when they have complications from the flu, which can make the disease more serious. So, if you have a fever, you should make sure that it is not another contagious disease.
