THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: NCC conducted inter battalion shooting camp for college girls is mired in controversy. According to reports, the girl's cadet instructor's housemaid also took part in the firing using a point-22 rifle. Group commander Brigadier S R Biju has asked for a report on the issue. The issue spiraled to such length after Keralakaumudi reported about the event breaching the basic norms of practice.

'Five Kerala Girls' Union conducted the camp, while the commanding officer Rohta Sharma who was in charge of the event should give a report within two days' time. The camp was conducted at Thiruvalla Marthomma College. Associate naval officer Prof. Rison Sam Raj was the college's NCC chief, and the college authority has asked for a similar report from the professor to explain the breach. Meanwhile, parents are moving ahead with complaints to the education minister as the camp put in danger their daughter's life.

Meanwhile, the accused girl's cadet instructor Devika’s husband is mending ways to stop the issue from ballooning into a bigger one. Devika's husband is a lieutenant colonel in the army and has an amicable relationship with many higher-ranked officers in the ministry. The housemaid firing a point-22 rifle issue is now being fabled as a photo shoot. Meanwhile, many images of Devika training her housemaid with a rifle have already reached cyberspace.

Earlier, an NCC camp in West Hill Kozhikode took the life of cadet Vysakh after there happened a sloppy fall from officials.
