AHMEDABAD: Chennai Super Kings clinched their fifth IPL title after beating Gujarat Titans in the last ball in a rain-delayed but spirited final.

After losing the toss and batting on Monday evening, Gujarat Titans scored 214 runs for the loss of four wickets. Sai Sudarshan (96), Wriddhiman Saha (54), Subhman Gill (39) and Hardik Pandya (21*) helped the defending champions to reach this huge score.

However, it started to rain heavily by the time Chennai scored 4 runs off the first three balls of its chase. Later, the match resumed at 12.10 pm. With this, Chennai's target was revised to 171 runs in 15 overs. Ravindra Jadeja's six and four in the last two balls helped CSK to chase down this target.

A rock-solid partnership between Conway (47) and Ruturaj (26) had helped set the foundation for a successful run-chase, but a game-changing spell from Mohit Sharma threatened to take away the win from CSK. However, Dube (32*) and Jadeja (15*) kept calm to seal a memorable title win for the Men in Yellow.

Chennai needed 21 runs in the last two overs and 13 runs in the last over. Jadeja, who scored 10 runs in the last two balls, was the architect of Chennai's victory.
