WASHINGTON: Muslim League is a completely secular party, said Congress leader Rahul Gandhi while talking to the media at the National Press Club in Washington. Rahul was responding to a journalist's question comparing BJP and the Muslim League.
‘You spoke about secularism after criticizing Hindus party BJP. However, in Kerala, where you were an MP, the Congress is in alliance with the Muslim League, a Muslim party,' asked the journalist.
Jinnah’s Muslim League, the party responsible for India’s partition, on religious lines, according to Rahul Gandhi is a ‘secular’ party.
Rahul Gandhi, though poorly read, is simply being disingenuous and sinister here…
It is also his compulsion to remain acceptable in Wayanad. pic.twitter.com/sHVqjcGYLb— Amit Malviya (@amitmalviya) June 1, 2023
‘The Muslim League is a completely secular party. There is nothing non-secular about. I think the reporter hasn’t studied the Muslim League,’ said Rahul.
Meantime, the BJP came forward criticizing Rahul's statement. BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya quipped that Jinnah's Muslim League, the party responsible for India’s partition, on religious lines, according to Rahul is a secular party.
