PERINTHALMANNA: Aswanth had a hard time convincing his unusually prudent teachers, of the secret behind his long-grown hair. Aswanth, a sixth std student at Tharakan High School maintained his hair for three years straight with one intention. However, the teachers were not too noble to allow the child inside the class on the day of reopening, only for his overgrown hair.

Starting from his LKG days, Aswanth looked in awe at anyone who decided to donate hair to cancer patients. He too wanted to engage in this noble deed. His aunt turned out to be the motivation while his friends and locals jibed at him for the long hair and often lamented him for looking like a girl.

In 2020, while being in the third standard, Aswanth donated his long hair to Amala Hospital Thrissur. The news was covered by Keralakaumudi in detail. However, things were not sufficing so he decided again to donate after growing hair for another three years. Last day, along with his mother, Aswanth reached Amala Hospital in Thrissur and donated his long hair.

“It is not for syle, it is for pateints” a naïve Aswanth responds.
