'Best home minister for a reason'; Former DGP B Sandhya to Kaumudy channel

DGP B Sandhya retired just days back ending a very celebrated career in uniform. She was among the quite few women police officers who stood the test of time and showed mettle working among volatile political leaders of the time. In a recent interview with Kaumudy Channel, B Sandhya revealed the best home minister she ever worked with.

“ It was Kodiyeri Balakrishanan. Even if some officers handed him a paper note, he had a mind to strictly scrutinize it. Let it be a thousand-page file, he will raid through it and read every word of it and will decide actions” Sandhya said while interacting with Kaumudy TV.

“ Police had some property in Munnar. I was battalion IG then. I had a dream to build an office for the Kerala police in this very plot. But to my dismay, I learned about the place being handed over to an engineering college. I was shattered as the home minister has already given the approval to proceed takeover. I started to prepare a study and handed over it to the then-home minister Kodiyeri. He perused in detail as it mentioned the ecological difficulties and how an engineering college at this place will turn out to be the worst choice for disaster. Kodiyeri in a shocking move decided to cancel the takeover. it was not something we expect every day from a home minister. “
