Kerala to receive rain for five days from today; yellow alert in two districts

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Central Meteorological Department has informed that there is a possibility of heavy rain and wind in Kerala for the next five days. Yellow alert has been announced in various districts. All the districts of Kerala will receive light rainfall from today till June 7. A yellow alert has been issued in Pathanamthitta and Idukki districts on June 5.

Central Meteorological Department has announced that fishing should not be done in the Kerala-Karnataka coasts and Lakshadweep area from today till June 4. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Research Center has informed that there is a possibility of high waves and storm surges on the Kerala coast till 11:30 tonight.

Warning for fishermen and coastal residents

  1. As the rough seas are likely to intensify, stay away from the danger areas as per the instructions of the authorities.
  2. Keep fishing vessels (boats, rowboats, etc.) safely moored in the harbor. Keeping a safe distance between boats will avoid the possibility of collision. Safety of fishing equipment should be ensured.
  3. Avoid trips to the beach and activities at sea altogether.
