Five of a family seriously injured after struck by lightning in Idukki

IDUKKI: Five members of a family were seriously injured after struck by lightning at Mankulam Kurathikudi. The incident happened the other day. They sustained burns in the lightning. Velayudhan of Kurathikudi tribal settlement, his wife Janu, son Biju and grandchildren Nandana and Shaiju sustained the burns.

Everyone ran inside the houses when there was heavy rain and thunder. However, lightning struck their house. The family was found to have struck by lightning when local people came running after hearing the sound of thunder. The clothes worn by Velayudhan and Janu were burnt. Both suffered severe burns. The injured were admitted to Adimali Taluk Hospital.
