KOCHI: FEFKA, an association of film technicians, came forward accusing the excise of a criminal conspiracy in the inspection of the hotel room where director Najeem Koya was staying. FEFKA general secretary B Unnikrishnan while addressing the press alleged that they are not against any legal inspection, but the present action of the excise is suspicious. An excise raid was conducted on the hotel room of director Najeem Koya in Erratupetta on Monday night following a secret information about the presence of drugs.

B Unnikrishnan asked why the excise department did not take the statement of actor Tiny Tom who had made revelations about drug use in the film industry. He also pointed that Tiny Tom is the brand ambassador of the excise department. ‘Did this agency call Tiny Tom yet? Why didn't the officials who came all the way from Thiruvananthapuram to Erattupetta to examine Najeem Koya take Tiny Tom's statement yet? He had said that an actor's teeth are decaying due to excessive drug usage. If Tiny Tom is working as a brand ambassador for the excise department, then who should ask this matter first. The excise department should have asked the brand ambassador? When a statement is made, it must be held accountable, clarified Unnikrishnan.

We are not against legal inspections. He said that it is suspected that so many people coming together to check only one room in the place where one lives, is part of a controversy. Najeem Koya also attended the press meet.

Unnikrishnan also criticized Kochi City Police Commissioner's statement that police will be deployed at all movie sets. The crew will be able to identify the shadow police if deployed. Will oppose full-time surveillance on film industry. We don’t want shadow police on film sets, he said.

Tiny Tom had earlier revealed that many people from the Malayalam film industry use drugs. Tiny said that his son got an opportunity in the film but turned it down due to fear of drugs. Tiny Tom is also the ambassador of Kerala Police' 'Yoddhav' awareness programme. 'I saw an actor addicted to drugs recently. His teeth have decayed. Many say that he takes drugs to perform better. Today it is his teeth but tomorrow could be his bones. We should be addicted to arts and not drugs, he said.
