THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM is trying to protect the SFI by rejecting former SFI leader K Vidya, who was found to have forged her teaching experience document to become a guest teacher. The benefit of the doubt obtained by SFI state secretary PM Arsho, a MA student of Maharaja's College, in the mark list controversy proved to be a help for the CPM.
The controversies that frequently arise in the name of SFI are likely to be discussed in the CPM state secretariat meeting today. The other day, CPM state secretary MV Govindan had come out rejecting K Vidya and defending Arsho. LDF convener and CPM central committee member EP Jayarajan on Thursday said that no one should not try to destroy SFI and that the SFI and the Left will not accept any kind of wrong trends. He clarified that Vidya is not an SFI leader and that the party does not support her in this regard. Minister MB Rajesh, former state secretary and president of SFI, asked how the organization can be held responsible for the acts committed by a person who was once an SFI member.
The CPM leadership is convinced that it cannot support Vidya when there is enough evidence to prove that she committed forgery for the teaching job. The Ernakulam Central Police registered a case against Vidya on a complaint lodged by the Principal of Maharaja's College.
Meanwhile, the SFI district representative conference will begin today in Thiruvananthapuram. Following the recent controversy against the SFI leadership in the district, the party leadership had intervened and appointed new office bearers. New district president Adarsh and secretary Adityan are likely to continue.
