Ashish J Desai to become Kerala High Court Chief Justice

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court collegium has recommended the name Gujarat High Court Acting Chief Justice Ashish J Desai as Chief Justice of Kerala High Court. The recommendation was given to the central government. The collegium made the recommendation to fill the position of Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court, which would become vacant as a result of the collegium's recent recommendation to promote Justice Bhatti to the Supreme Court.

Ashish Desai was recommended on the grounds that the Gujarat High Court was not represented among the Chief Justices of the High Court. Ashish J Desai became a High Court judge on 21 November 2011. He was born on 5th July 1962 in Vadodara. His father Jitendra P. Desai was a judge of the Gujarat High Court.
