THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Meteorological Department has informed that isolated heavy rain will continue in the state. Yellow alert has been sounded in Idukki, Kannur and Kasaragod. The rain is likely to intensify from tomorrow.
Yellow alert has been issued in Idukki, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod tomorrow and on Thursday in Thrissur, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod and on Friday in Idukki, Kannur and Kasaragod. Isolated heavy rain has been predicted.
Warning of high waves
The Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) has warned that there is a possibility of high waves of 1.0 to 1.5 meters along the South Tamil Nadu coast till 11.30 tonight. Fishermen and coastal residents should exercise caution.
The authorities informed that strong winds and bad weather conditions are likely to occur over North Kerala-Karnataka coasts and Lakshadweep region tomorrow with a speed of 40 to 45 kmph and at some occasions up to 55 kmph. Fishing has been banned till Friday.
Holiday for schools
A holiday has been declared today for educational institutions in Kottayam, Kuttanad and Tiruvalla taluks due to heavy rains.
