Meenakshipuram gold robbery: Arjun Ayanki and accomplice Muhammad Anees remanded

PALAKKAD: Police have remanded Arjun Ayanki and his accomplice in a gold robbery case in Meenakshipuram.Arjun Ayanki (26) and his accomplice Muhammad Anees (30) who were arrested in the case of kidnapping a gold merchant in Meenakshipuram and robbing gold worth 30 lakhs, Rs 23000 and a mobile phone, were remanded.

The other accused in the case are former secretary of CPM Kunnathur branch, R. Ajith, Rahul, Dixon, Ranjith, Vishakh, Muralidas, Kadukkamkunnam, M. Sreejith, Murali, Rauf, Rahul alias Appu, Baveer, Attimani Manoj and Abdul Saleem were arrested earlier in the case.

The incident related to the case took place on March 26 at 5.25 am in Meenakshipuram. The accused looted the gold ornaments that Raphael, a native of Pudukkad, Thrissur, brought back after showing them at a jewellery store in Madhukara. The group stopped the private bus on which the businessman was travelling. Then one of the accused boarded the bus, grabbed the businessman and took him to the Tamil Nadu side. After reaching a deserted place and beating him up, gold, money and a mobile phone were stolen. The first accused, Sreejith, who was arrested earlier, was a member of the CPM Attimani branch. Baveer was the driver of a former CPM MLA.
