PALAKKAD: A nurse has been suspended for mistakenly administering a vaccine meant for a five-day-old baby. JPHN Charuta, working at Palakkad Pirayiri Primary Health Center has been suspended pending an investigation. This action follows the nurse's acknowledgment of the error during the preliminary inquiry led by the District Medical Officer.
The incident involves a five-day-old baby boy from Pallikulam whose parents took him to the primary health center for a BCG injection. However, the vaccine administered was intended for administration 45 days after birth. Relatives also allege that the hospital staff exhibited inappropriate behaviour towards them. The District Medical Officer has initiated a thorough investigation into the matter. The baby is currently under observation at the Palakkad district hospital.
