Main accused held in fake degree case involving former SFI leader

KAYAMKULAM: The main accused in the fake degree certificate case involving former SFI leader Nikhil Thomas, has been held. Muhammad Riyas of Tamil Nadu was arrested. Riyas is presently running an organization called Edu Care in Chennai. He is the one who made the fake certificate for Saju Sasidharan, the third accused in the case.

The Kayamkulam police arrested Muhammad Riyas from Chennai According to reports, the accused has admitted that he had paid Rs 40,000 as a reward for the fake certificate. The police have obtained the phone call records.


Nikhil Thomas, who failed for BCom in Kayamkulam MSM College, got admission for MCom after producing a fake certificate from Kalinga University in Chhattisgarh. The University of Kerala had informed the other day that there was a serious failure on the part of the college authorities in the incident.


The syndicate meeting has decided that it is serious that the teachers did not recognize the student and action will be taken against the principal and the head of the commerce department. A show cause notice will be served as part of it.
