Week-long Onam celebrations to begin on August 27; Fahadh Faasil, Mallika Sarabhai will be chief guests

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Ministers V Sivankutty and PA Muhammad Riyas said that the preparations for the week-long Onam celebrations to be held in Thiruvananthapuram have been completed. The celebrations will take place from August 27 to September 2. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the celebrations at 6 pm on August 27 in Nishagandhi auditorium, the ministers said. The ministers were speaking to the media after attending the meeting of various organizing committees of Onam celebrations at Mascot Hotel, Thiruvananthapuram.

Actor Fahadh Faasil and dancer Mallika Sarabhai will be the chief guests for the inaugural function. The celebrations will be held on the theme 'Onam, Orumayude Eenam' (Onam, the tune of unity) as part of presenting Kerala's secular mind to the world. The main venues of the celebrations are Kanakakkunnu, Central Stadium, Poojappura, Thycaud, and Karyavattom Greenfield Stadium.
