Bribe for passport verification: Police officer arrested by vigilance

CHAKKARAKKAL: Vigilance caught a civil policeman of Chakkarakal police station while accepting bribe for passport verification. The said civil police officer, KV Umar Farooq, was caught in the act by Vigilance DySP Babu Peringoth and his team caught civil police officer while accepting a bribe of Rs 1000.

A native of Chakkarakal lodged a complaint with vigilance after he demanded money from a for passport verification. Then yesterday at 2 pm, the vigilance caught him when he was taking a bribe of two 500 rupees notes smeared with phenolphthale in front of Chakkarakal Govt Hospital. Arrest was recorded at 7 pm after completion of procedures. Umar Farooq was arrested under the leadership of CIs PR Manoj, Vinod, Ajith Kumar and SI Girish.
