JAIPUR: Minister Mahesh Joshi's son, Rohit Joshi faces significant criticism after celebrating his birthday by cutting a cake with a sword at SMS Medical College in Jaipur, Rajasthan. The incident generated outrage on social media due to the display of weapons in a public place which is a violation of the Arms Act. Moreover, Rohit Joshi was also criticized for hosting his birthday celebration in the college hostel premises, which contravened the law.
The officer in charge of the event stated that he was unaware of the organized celebration and that no permission had been granted for it. In response, he wrote to the college principal, advising against holding such events with tents set up in the hostel area.
A similar birthday celebration involving weapons have occurred in the country before. For instance, Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim, who claims to be a spiritual leader faced backlash for cutting a cake with a sword during a public birthday ceremony. This event took place while he was on a 40-day parole after serving 20 years in prison for his involvement in a rape case.
