Major security breach at Cheruthoni dam; Youth places locks on high mast light

IDUKKI: The police have started an investigation into the KSEB's complaint that there was a security breach at the Idukki Cheruthoni Dam. According to the complaint a youth entered the dam and placed locks on the high mast light. A red liquid was also poured on the rope that raises the shutter. The incident happened on July 22 at 3.15 p.m. CCTV footage shows the youth passing by. The Idukki police have registered a case and started an investigation.

Meanwhile, the Idukki and Cheruthoni dams can be visited till October. The time was extended considering the interest of the people. The dams were opened in mid-August on the occasion of Onam.
