India's surgical strike! Largest margin ODI victory against Pakistan

COLOMBO: India made Pakistan fall for a humiliating defeat in the Super 4 of the Asia Cup tournament on Monday, beating the neighbours by 228 runs. India batted first in the rain-soaked match and scored 356 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in 50 overs. It is India’s joint-best total score against Pakistan in ODI cricket. It is also the largest margin victory for India against Pakistan in the men's ODI tournament.

Pakistan while chasing down the gargantuan total, succumbed to just 128 runs in 32 overs. Injured Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf were omitted from the Pakistan batting lineup.

Kuldeep Yadav, who took 5 wickets, was lethal sharp with his googly’s, confounding the Pakistan batting top order. Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya and Shardul Thakur took one wicket each. Fakhar Zaman was Pakistan's top scorer with 27 runs.

Earlier, India scored a humungous total against Pakistan in the Super 4 match of the Asia Cup tournament. India scored 356 runs for the loss of two wickets in 50 overs.

Centuries by KL Rahul (111) and Virat Kohli (122) guided India to a huge score against arch-rivals Pakistan. Rahul completed his century in 100 balls. This is Rahul's sixth century in ODIs. Rohit Sharma (56) and Shubman Gill (58) scored half-centuries.

Indian resumed batting at 147-2 on the reserve day of the game. Kohli's 47th career century came from 84 balls.

Today’s match at Premadasa Stadium was delayed by an hour due to incessant rain. The downpours made a return during Pakistan’s batting but abated soon enough.
