Attack over love failure; Girl under treatment in Perumbavoor after stabbed by youth, succumbs to injuries 

KOCHI: A girl, who was hacked by a youth in Perumbavoor, succumbed to her injuries. The dead is Alka Anna Binu of Rayamangalam. She was attacked on September 5. The accused Basil of Iringol, had committed suicide earlier.

Basil, who escaped after committing the crime, went home and then hanged himself. The girl's grandparents were also injured in the attack.

The youth came to Alka's house with a weapon. He then tried to kill her. Alka sustained deep injuries on her head and neck.

Reports said Basil, a student at a private institution in Palarivattom, and Alka, a nursing student in Kolenchery, were in a relationship. It is hinted that their relationship broke recently and this may be the reason for the attack.
