THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala Women's Commission Chairperson Adv P Sathidevi said that the statement made by actor and state film award winner Alencier during the distribution of the state film awards is absolutely reprehensible. Sathidevi said that the remark made by Alencier is not at all appropriate for the culture of Kerala.
"The remark made by Alencier is not at all appropriate for the culture of Kerala. The awards ceremony has been going on for several years. The award is presented as a sculpture inscribed with the figure of a woman by putting forward a feminist perspective. Instead of seeing this with great pride, making a statement with disdain is completely inappropriate and a total insult to the culture of Kerala and the film industry," Sathidevi said.
Meanwhile, Minister R Bindu has come out with a response to the protests against Alencier. The Minister said that the actor's response can be seen as a reflection of patriarchal consciousness and that he should not have made such a remark on any platform.
