KOCHI: In a raid conducted by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the Karuvannur Co-operative Bank loan fraud case, property records worth Rs 20 crore, records of 25 benami properties of prime accused P Satheesh Kumar, 800 grams of gold, and five and a half lakh rupees were seized.
Five documents of properties worth Rs 15 crore were seized from the house of Anil Kumar, who had borrowed crores from Ayyanthole Bank. ED had found that Anil Kumar was in Thrissur. The crime branch had said that Anil Kumar absconded after taking a loan of Rs 18.5 crore from Karuvannur Bank eight years ago.
800 grams of gold and five and a half lakh rupees were seized from the house of Sunil Kumar, a middleman in the loan fraud and a gold jewelry wholesaler.
Documents of 25 properties were obtained from the offices of three document writers. These are the benami properties of Satheesh Kumar. 19 documents of properties worth more than five crore rupees were seized from the house of businessman Deepak Sathyapal in Kochi. The value of these properties is unclear. Deepak is a friend of Satheesh Kumar and PP Kiran. In a press release, ED stated that frauds worth Rs 150 crore have been found so far.
