IDUKKI: More information has surfaced on the Facebook post on ‘minor daughter is for sale’ in Thodupuzha. The police have found that the girl’s stepmother posted it from the girl’s father’s FB account. This was found in an investigation conducted with the help of the cyber cell.
The 11-year-old girl’s stepmother committed the act following a dispute with her husband. The incident happened two days ago. She posted it from her phone and then deleted it later. However, the locals who noticed it informed the police.
The police first suspected the girl’s father, an accused in cases including in the sale of drugs. On interrogation, he told police that he had not used social media in recent days. When examined from where it was posted with the help of the cyber cell, reached to her stepmother. Though she first denied, later confessed to the crime.
Meantime, it is reported that the police have a challenge in arresting the stepmother as she has a six-month-old baby. They have sought the advice of the Child Welfare Committee for this. A final decision will be taken after the directions of top police officials. The girl and her aunt have reached the station and given a statement. The girl abandoned by her mother is under the protection of her uncle and aunt. The girl will be subjected for counselling.
